CRUBA X ULI AIGNER

CRUBA was founded in Berlin in 2009 by designer Mira von der Osten. The label stands for a precise, sculptural language of form, distinctive materials and fashion as a means of cultural expression. CRUBA attracted international attention in 2024 with a dress designed for Donata Wenders, made from the magnetic tapes of three films by Wim Wenders and worn at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles—a poetic connection between film history and contemporary design. As a co-initiator of FASHION POSITIONS Berlin, Mira von der Osten also creates a platform that gives independent fashion visibility within the context of contemporary art.

ULI AIGNER’s long-term project ONE MILLION provides the artistic context for the collaboration. Since 2014, the artist has been creating individually shaped, consecutively numbered porcelain vessels. Conceived to span 300 years, the project combines one of the oldest craft traditions with digital tools and explores the relationship between the individual and the collective, authorship and serial order.

For their first collaborative work, ULI AIGNER created a limited edition of porcelain vessels exclusively for CRUBA. Mira von der Osten translates their forms, proportions, surfaces and individual characteristics into limited-edition textile designs. This creates a dialogue between porcelain, visual art and fashion: between solid and soft materials, vessel and body, sculptural object and wearable design. While porcelain retains its form permanently, textiles change through movement, folding and the human body.
