Uli aigner will present some ONE MILLION items as part of an all female group exhibition, JA! JUST ART! JUST FEMAILE ARTISTS! at artP.kunstverien.
The title JA! JUST ART! JUST FEMALE ARTISTS! are international positions in contemporary art, e.g. from Argentina, Brazil, the USA, Iceland, Austria and Yugoslavia, from Marina Abramović to Yoko Ono, from Margarethe Herzele, Hildegard Joos, Export/Wiener and Brigitte Kowanz, Martina Steckholzer, Titanilla Eisenhart to Ursula Heindl, ...
JA! means JUST ART! JUST FEMALE ARTISTS! JA! is an exhibition of 25 positions from four generations of mostly internationally active female artists. Positions that have inspired or known each other, rarely supported, because that is a weak leg of feminism, the alliance of women. So with the format JA! JUST ART! JUST FEMALE ARTISTS! format, I have created a pleasant idea, a certain fiction, an inspiring togetherness of high-quality art.
Hildegard JOOS was the first woman to hold a solo exhibition at the Secession in Vienna, in 1958, so it took 60 years for the progressive modern men artists to give a woman the main room. HERZELE was praised at a young age for her masculine stroke, which was probably the highest praise a critic could give a woman painter in the 1950s. My authorship of the large-format LADIES' PICTURES, or I-PICTURES as I called them, was not believed; back then in the early 90s, the artist who painted naked women had to be an older man with a belly and fat hair. Back then, the decision was already growing to make a JA! at some point. Marina ABRAMOVIÇ, Valid EXPORT, Yoko ONO, Carla DEGENHART and Elisabeth von SAMSONOW should be highlighted as performers. IANNONE shocked the world of men with her funny feminist porn and is now being curiously rediscovered after her death. Uli AIGNER and Inka ALLMAYER-BECK show various ceramic vessels - the vessel, an ancient synonym for the female. Female attitudes can also be found in the cut-outs and textile paintings by EISENHART, HERZELE and Frenz RIGLING.
JA! now offers the rare opportunity in Perchtoldsdorf to experience the concentrated power of female positions united in one show. This happens rarely enough. It is important to enjoy the art, to (re)discover it for oneself, to feel the interaction of the works, to read the contrasts as well as the similarities, to uphold the ambitions of the female artists, to break up rigid social structures, to loosen the encrustation with more or less sensitive or aggressive elements.
